MotionFrame FAQ
Straight answers about what MotionFrame does, what it needs, and what it will and won't do. If something is not covered here, the features page and how it works guide fill in the detail.
Is MotionFrame free?
Yes. MotionFrame is free to use, with no account and no watermark on your exports.
Do I need to install any software?
No. MotionFrame runs entirely in your web browser — there is nothing to download or install and no account to create. A current desktop browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari is recommended.
Does my media get uploaded?
No. Imported video, images and audio are read locally from your device and kept in your browser's own storage. Nothing is transmitted to a server, and the editor makes no network requests while you work.
Can I edit multiple videos?
Yes. Each clip, image or audio file becomes an independent layer with its own start and end time, so you can sequence, overlap and trim them on one timeline. Layers can be reordered, hidden, locked, renamed, duplicated and split — and splitting is non-destructive, so both halves keep their media and keyframes.
Does MotionFrame support keyframes?
Yes. Every layer exposes animatable position (2D and 3D), scale, rotation, opacity and anchor, with a choice of easing on each keyframe. There is also a dedicated, fully keyframable camera for perspective and orbit moves.
Can I animate numbers?
Yes. Number Scroll animates the numeric part of a text layer while leaving the surrounding words untouched, so values like 1,000, $4,250 or 98% roll between numbers with their prefix, suffix, decimals and thousands separators intact.
Can I export videos?
Yes. MotionFrame exports MP4 or WebM rendered on your own machine, using the browser's hardware-accelerated encoders where available and a real-time recorder fallback where they are not. Transparent-background export is not supported because MP4 and WebM have no alpha channel.
Does it work offline after loading?
Once the page and its assets have loaded, the editor makes no network requests, so you can keep editing and exporting in that tab without a connection. Reloading the page while offline depends on your browser's cache.
What browsers are supported?
The editor runs in all modern desktop browsers that support WebGL2. For the widest export support — MP4 with audio — use a current Chromium-based browser such as Chrome or Edge. On Firefox and Safari, editing works and export falls back to a real-time recorder, which is video-only.
Is this a desktop replacement?
Not for professional finishing. MotionFrame is a focused, browser-based motion graphics editor; it does not offer deep compositing, colour grading or large multi-track workflows. Within its scope it aims to be fast, predictable and genuinely useful.
